The STC Underground is a unique place for teens to “hang out”, socialize, play games, surf the internet, watch TV, do homework, and much more.
The STC Underground is open to all Middle School & High School teens, including parochial schools and home schooled students who reside within St. Charles School District boundaries.
*Participants may be asked to submit proof of residency or school enrollment.

Sunday and Monday: Closed
Tuesday-Thursday: 3 - 9pm
Friday: 3 - 10pm
Saturday: 1 - 10pm
All particpants are required to obtain a membership in order to attend the STC Underground. Membership is free and is granted upon each participant meeting the following requirments:
- The participant currently resides within School District 303 boundaries
- The participant is currently enrolled in school
- The participant has submitted a completed Code of Conduct signed by his/herself AND a parent or legal gaurdian. This form can be downloaded and printed here.
Staff Information
The STC Underground is supervised by well trained, quailty, experienced staff. Currently, the Teen Center employs two full time staff people responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Underground as well as other Teen programming throughout the Park District. Staff bios below.
Darby Beasley - Teen Program & Center Director
Darby holds a Bachelor's Degree from Murray State University along with a Master's Degree from George Williams College both in Recreation Administration. She has been working in the professional field of recreation programming for 8 years and came to the St. Charles Park District from Mooseheart where she was the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator. Darby is excited about the opportunity to continue offering quality and enriching recreational programming to the teens that visit the STC Underground.
Sean Warren- Teen Program Supervisor
Sean has a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Illinois State University. Sean finished up his degree in August 2007. He has been in and out of the recreation field for the past seven years, working in all kinds of recreation. He completed an internship at the Nickelodeon Family Suites in Orlando, Florida last summer. He has also worked seasonally and part time for a number of park districts. Sean is thrilled to be working with teens, as this is a different age group from what he is used to.
Part-Time Staff
The Underground also employs several part-time employees. These qualified individuals assist in supervising the Teen Center as well as aiding in Teen special events.
Byron Altergott - Part-Time Staff
Byron has worked with the St. Charles Park District for 5 years with a variety of programs including Friday Live !, Battle of the Bands, Band Nights, and Special Events. He is currently working on a degree in Computer Aided Design at Elgin Community College. Byron enjoys spending time with teens at the STC Underground as he used to be a teen center member himself!
Brian Benes- Part-Time Staff
Brian Benes is 2003 Graduate from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a double minor is Sociology and Recreation. Brian is currently an Associate Buyer with Sears Holdings Corporation for their Kmart.com website. Brian has been married to his lovely wife Laura since November of 2004 and has one son, Preston both Laura and Preston mean the world to him. When he is not spending time with his family or at his full time job, he works here at the St. Charles Underground because, in his words “he loves working with teens and doing whatever he can to make sure they are learning for their futures but also having fun and enjoying their teenage years". Brian has been a member of the St. Charles Underground Staff since December of 2006 and has loved every minute of it. He believes it is a great place for teenagers to hang out, have fun and also learn a thing or two along the way.
Jessica Brummel- Part-Time Staff
Jessica is a student at NIU in her Junior year studying Elementary Education. Jessica has been working with the St. Charles Park District since 2004 with various departments supervising activities such as Birthday Parties, Friday Live !, and the STC Underground. Jessica enjoys getting to know all the youth that visit the Teen Center and other programs within the St. Charles Park District and hopes to impact their lives positively while sharing good times!
Stacy Vitali- Part-Time Staff
Stacy is finishing up her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa. This year, she will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She does not have a certain grade she wants to teach, but will be able to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. Stacy played volleyball for the University of Iowa for four years and wore the number 8 for the Iowa team. She is excited to be able to get some experience with these adolescents. Stacy plans to take what she learns here at the STC Underground and apply it to her own classroom.
